Words in Winter Honours Long time Contributor Petrus Spronk
The Words in Winter Festival community is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Petrus Spronk, a monumental figure in our regional arts landscape and a dedicated contributor to the festival over many years. Petrus passed away last week following a long period of illness.
As a multidisciplinary creator whose work spanned striking public sculptures and delicate ceramics, Petrus was deeply embedded in the cultural fabric of Daylesford and the broader Hepburn Shire. The festival committee extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends and the countless local artists he inspired throughout his lifetime.
In accordance with his wishes, the special event Petrus developed for the 2026 Words in Winter program will proceed as planned. Conceived as a unique performance piece, the event will now serve as a powerful celebration of his creative vision and lifelong dedication to the arts.
The presentation will take place at Radius Gallery on Wednesday, August 26. Limited capacity. Book your ticket.
