Words in Winter 2019 – Expressions of Interest.
Words in Winter is an annual regional festival of words and ideas, that brings warmth and solace to our community during the unforgiving, cold month of August in Daylesford.
Do you have and event you would like to share?
We invite you to participate in this the 17th Words in Winter festival by filing in your details below and writing a brief proposal of what you would like to do.
This year the festival will be held on the third weekend in August, from Friday 16 August to Sunday 18 August 2019.
“To celebrate a festival means: to live out, for some special occasion and in an uncommon manner, the universal assent to the world as a whole.”
This year our theme is “Life”
After a huge festival last year, we’ve decided to pare this year’s festival back to basics. The theme is: L I F E – as complex or as simple as you would like to make it.
If successful your session will be included in the program and all of our marketing activities. It is important to note, however, that your session will be just one of many during a busy festival season. So, if you want to ensure that your session is well attended, you should start thinking NOW about how you might promote it through your own networks including social media, posters, email marketing, and continuously bending the ear of anyone one who’ll listen!
Once the Expressions of Interests period has closed, all submissions will be assessed. The deadline for submissions is 12 April. You will be notified by the end of April as to whether your application has been successful or not. Due to the limited number of places available over the festival weekend, we unfortunately cannot guarantee that your application will be accepted.
Note: Words In Winter Public Liability Insurance only covers events held at the designated venues as listed. If using an alternative venue, you will need to provide a copy of the Public Liability Insurance certificate of currency for that premises.
$50 per event which goes toward producing the programme, advertising costs such as print and web ads and social media. We are a non-profit entity run by volunteers.
Duration and Location of Events
All events are broken into 45 minute time slots.
All events will be held at the Senior Citizens Hall which has a capacity of approx 80 people and a raised stage that holds 5 speakers comfortably. Words in Winter will provide a basic PA system to make sure you will be heard.
