Words In Winter Gala with Bruce Pascoe, Alison J. Barton & many more

Bruce Pascoe has won numerous awards, including the Children’s Book Council of Australia Eve Pownall Award for Young Dark Emu, New South Wales Premier’s Book of the Year Award in 2016 for Dark Emu and the Prime Minister’s Literature Award for Young Adult fiction for Fog a Dox. In 2018 Bruce was awarded the Australia Council Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature. Bruce is a Yuin, Bunurong and Tasmanian man, and currently lives on his farm in Gippsland, Victoria.

Wiradjuri poet Alison J. Barton will discuss nineteenth-century archives and the mistruths they tell about Indigenous people, Alison shares how contemporary Indigenous Australian poets are re-writing the archive with their collective body of work, and present on themes from her latest poetry on mission archives and the Aboriginal voice.

Other guest speakers include: Arnold Zable and Amy Bodossian. Rebecca Lister is the MC for the event.

The night will closed with a performance by the edgy electronic, vocal and percussive outfit Shimmernet.
