a word or phrase spoken as a reminder to an actor of a forgotten word or line.

a word or symbol on a screen to show that the system is waiting for input.

clear instructions that help AI systems generate ideas or content.

We are surrounded today by artificial intelligence and Sublime Realism explorers the similarities between performance and the creation of artificial images.

A fragmented reality is sometimes better than the whole picture.

And through the lens of the sublime we can be anything we want. Just like right now as we stand before you today…

An image of filtered information to create an artifice you could touch with your bare hands.

Yet once the light is extinguished or the code is deleted, the ephemeral nature of this material is revealed as it will, to borrow a phase from Walter Benjamin, “dissolve into naught”.

Sublime Realism, performed by artists Jonathon Harris and Kim Percy, is a combination of the spoken word and creation of projected AI imagery. As ringmasters, the artists delve into the coding of language, demonstrating how a simple word can be misinterpreted, leading to a misunderstanding of intention and image. Creating a space where anything can happen, inviting the audience to explore new and rich areas with a sense of surrender.

I stand here as clear as day, in the evening. In this light, nothing is real. In this setting, we are all illusions, both fictional and factual. A fictional representation of fact.

In a live moment, Harris and Percy will pull together visual fragments from the digital realm and reshape them in the live moment. There will be audience participation. Even if it is just the performers asking for a prompt.
