Identity Workshop

This is a practical poetry writing workshop around the subject of identity, which might include age, religion, gender or disability. We will explore what Identity means to each of us, how it connects to our heart and how that affects our viewpoint and interpretation of the world through our writing. Two hours, bring pen and paper or laptop.

Jade was born in Melbourne, Australia and has now returned to Victoria after living in Oregon, USA for eight years. She worked in theatre as a director, actor trainer and university lecturer in Australia, United States and South Korea for over thirty years. Her poetry has been published in Australian poetry journals such as SCARP, Leaves and Wiradjuri as well as in anthologies, Terra Incognita, (Bob Hill publishing 2019, Oregon), /pãn| dé| mïk/ 2020: An Anthology of Pandemic Poems, Beyond Words, and in the journal The Silent World in her Vase. Her poem 'Fair Art' won second place in the Kay Snow Awards 2019. Jade's two poetry books, SMALL FEATHER and the tossing dream were published by Finishing Line Press, Kentucky in 2020 and 2023. Her edited volumes include UPROOTING: Leaving the Abuse Cycle (The Poetry Box, Portland Oregon 2023), Narrative in Performance (Palgrave Macmillan 2018), Embodied Consciousness: Performance Technologies (Palgrave Macmillan 2013). She is a member of the Salem Poetry Project, Artists in Action and the Mid Valley Poetry Society. Jade holds a Doctor of Creative Arts from the University of Technology, Sydney, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Melbourne.
Words in Winter is an annual literary and arts festival held in August each year in the Hepburn Shire and surrounding districts.
