Boochani, a Kurdistan-Iranian refugee now in New Zealand, was held for years by Australia in Papua New Guinea, where he used his mobile phone to painstakingly write his internationally acclaimed No Friends But the Mountains. He will be in conversation with his good friend, Arnold Zable, acclaimed writer, novelist, storyteller and human rights advocate based in Melbourne, Australia. He is also the 2021 recipient of the Australia Council Lifetime Achievement in Literature.
