What better way to spend winter than with stories by the fire.
Now in its 12th year, Words in Winter celebrates words, stories and ideas in all their forms.
The festival will showcase the best of local and imported performers, storytellers, authors, music, theatre, comedy,
workshops, talks, poetry and exhibitions creating a glowing hub of entertainment for all ages.
Words in Winter 2013 hosts an extraordinary range of world-class wordsmiths! In this program you'll find Graeme Simsion (Daylesford), Toni Jordan (Clunes), John Romeril (Newstead), Carmel Bird (Castlemaine), David Astle (Trentham), Neil Boyack (Daylesford), Graeme Kinross-Smith (Clunes) and many many more!
The Rex Festival Hub
We’re creating a festival hub at the Rex this year where you can catch up on what's happening, meet friends and have a coffee or a drink after a show. The Rex foyer will be transformed into a cosy lounge space with couches, DJs, book signings, roving performers, a mini-market and family fun during the day. It'll be the glowing heart of the festival in Daylesford. The Rex Festival Hub - 10 & 11 August. Meet you there!
Fun for Kids
Aside from Daylesford's massive Hepburn Libraries Family Day, kids can also enjoy Enoch The Crab at Trentham, the Magic Lantern Show in Maryborough and lots more!
Among our many returning events, 10am on the first Saturday of August will again be time for the Clever Towns Crossword Challenge. Race to your local library to help your town in this battle for general knowledge supremacy. It's Clunes vs Creswick vs Daylesford vs Maryborough vs Newstead vs Trentham. Entry is free - all welcome - help your team win!
